Point Ephémère is an arts and music venue at 200 quai de Valmy in Paris’s 10th arrondissement, beside the Canal Saint-Martin. The building was constructed in 1922 for industrial materials production, then became the headquarters and warehouse of building-supplies firm Point P. In the 1930s, deputy Raymond Susset took it over, adding a rooftop nursery and projection room, with performances for local young people.
After the City of Paris entrusted the former Point P building to La Caserne Éphémère, the association converted it into a 1,400-square-metre cultural centre. Point Ephémère opened on 4 October 2004 with a concert by Yuksek. Its rooms accommodate concerts, exhibitions, rehearsals, dance and artists’ workshops, alongside a bar-restaurant. The venue has a 330-capacity concert room, five music studios, one dance studio, four visual-art studios for residencies and a fabric workshop, as well as a multimedia platform. Christophe Pasquet and Frédérique Taubes-Magal redesigned the venue, including spaces for meetings and debates.
The programme spans concerts, club nights, exhibitions and live performance, with pop and folk alongside indie rock, electronic music and rap. Point Ephemere, Bardouin Music and BREAXXX have run events there. Adele played her first Paris concert at the venue in 2007; Hyas and mad miran have also performed. The rooftop terrace opened in 2017.
