PTR-Usine

PTR-Usine is located at Place des Volontaires 4 in Geneva, occupying the Rez of L’Usine, a former gold-refining factory known as the UGDO before its later name. Post Tenebras Rock was founded in 1983 to promote rock music in Geneva and obtain a permanent venue. PTR moved into the factory in 1989, initially operating a concert hall with room for 400 people. From 1998, it shared a hall with État d’Urgences that could accommodate about 800. The programme has included rock, electronic music, hip-hop and world music, as well as disco events, and PTR has supported Geneva’s local music scene.

In December 1995, PTR created the Club 45 label to help local bands make their first records. Artists who have played there include Nirvana, Nick Cave, Slayer and Wu-Tang Clan. In 2003, PTR and Fribourg venue Fri-Son were selected to present rock acts at the Paléo Festival. PTR marked its 35th anniversary in December 2018.
