Rex Club

Rex Club is a club beneath the Grand Rex cinema at 5 boulevard Poissonnière in Paris. In 1984, Garance and Christian Paulet shifted its programme towards alternative rock and independent music, including new wave, punk and funk. In 1988, a night called Jungle brought acid house to the club with Laurent Garnier, then playing as DJ Pedro, and from 1992 to 1995 Garnier ran his Wake Up parties there. After renovations in 1995, Rex Club focused entirely on electronic music, with the DJ booth turned towards the crowd.

The club holds about 800 people. Its dance floor reaches the bar, while booths and seats run along the walls, facing a stage with full lighting. A D&B multidirectional system, installed in 2006, used more than 60 computer-controlled speaker points; a major renovation in summer 2023 updated the sound, lighting and DJ booth. Techno and house parties include nights by Rex Club, D'Julz's Bass Culture and Club Téton. Artists who have played there include Goldie, Special Request, HAAi and Laurent Garnier.
