Venue / dancefloor
RnR Saloon/Detroit Eagle is a venue at 950 W. McNichols Rd in Detroit, part of the Menjo’s Entertainment Complex, with a capacity of about 400. Its name comes from the Detroit Eagle, whose former premises were at 1501 Holden Street. That building first housed The Interchange in the 1970s and ’80s before becoming the Detroit Eagle.
The Detroit Eagle closed on 10 July 2010, and its name moved to the Menjo’s complex. At the former Holden Street venue, Sunday Disco/Secret dance parties began in 2004, with Mike Trombley, Scott Zacharias and Mike Kerns as residents. Resident DJs played disco at the parties, which ran into the early morning.
At its McNichols Rd address, the venue has hosted house and techno events, with Kevin Black among the promoters. Artists who have played there include DJ DARIA, Grant Jackson, Wax Assassin and DJVODKASODA.
