Rockerill Charleroi is a former industrial site and cultural venue in Marchienne-au-Pont, Charleroi, at Rue de la Providence 136. The Forges de la Providence began in 1832; destroyed during the First World War, the forges were rebuilt afterwards. A group of artists and friends took over the abandoned site in 2005 and turned it into Rockerill.
The venue has four spaces: La Cathédrale, Les Forges, Le Rockerill and La Grande Salle. Le Rockerill, the concert room, holds 250 people, while the site’s overall capacity is about 500. The Cathedral is used mainly for exhibitions; the forges accommodate industrial gatherings, a blacksmith cooperative and exhibitions. The Great Hall hosts concerts, exhibitions and larger events, including the Flesh Factory Festival and the main stage of the Uzine Festival.
Concerts and electronic music nights sit alongside work in visual and digital arts, theatre, cinema, dance and street arts. Broken'bass has run events there, with FMS, Maëlie and Synoxis among the artists to play. Rockerill joined Club Plasma and signed a programme contract with the Federation Wallonia-Brussels in 2011.
