Royale

Royale is a nightclub and live-music venue at 279 Tremont Street in Boston. Its building was constructed in 1918 as an opera house, and later operated as the Roxy nightclub. After renovations, it reopened under the Royale name in 2010, with its grand opening held on 13 March. The Bowery Presents took on exclusive booking that year, agreeing to arrange at least 100 shows annually.

The venue spans upper and lower levels, with a mezzanine, a 40-foot stage and an in-house audiovisual system. Its event facilities include six liquor bars and a concert sound system; a new system was installed as part of the 2010 refurbishment. Royale can accommodate up to 1,200 guests and occupies more than 16,000 square feet. It has hosted concerts, club nights and private functions, with dance events on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Bowery Presents and Adriana Gomez have both promoted events there. Electronic performers REAPER and Wilkinson have appeared at Royale, as have concert acts Duran Duran and St. Vincent. In August 2026, Boston’s Licensing Board suspended Royale’s licence for two days over a New Year’s incident involving a patron and security staff.
