Salon Daomé · Montreal, Canada
22:30 – 03:00

Salon Daomé began in 2001 in a Plateau-Mont-Royal loft that had once been used for dance instruction. Founded by Yves Delima, it initially combined salsa with occasional DJ sets. The weekly Soulmeka nights, led by Natacha Blanchard and Ousmane Bary (UZI), helped turn the venue toward underground electronic music. Local and international DJs play electronic music there, and the club opens Tuesday through Sunday.
In 2003, the programme ranged from Afro-Cuban sounds and funk to deep house, tribal music and traditional Haitian music on different nights. The room’s furnishings and arrangement were changed to fit each event. The venue later became associated with house and techno, with bookings including Mihai Pol, Mike Shannon, Per Hammar and Sonja Moonear.
Following noise and traffic complaints near the original loft, Salon Daomé closed that location in February 2018. It reopened on April 21 at 4465 Saint-Laurent Boulevard, in the space formerly occupied by Club Lambi. Solotech designed the new site’s sound system, which has ARCS WiFo loudspeakers, SB28 subwoofers, X12 speakers in the DJ booth, an SB15 subwoofer and X8 delay speakers.
