Schaubude

Schaubude is an alternative club at Legienstraße 40 in Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein. It opened there in May 2002, having previously operated under the name Tanzdiele. Richard Schröder and Steven Pönicke took over the club in 2019; Schröder is its owner and artistic director. The club is operated as a sole proprietorship.

The venue has capacity for around 400 and stages concerts, parties, raves and poetry slams. Its programme ranges from drum and bass and jungle to punk and techno, with indie, pop and metal also represented. Addicted to Bass, a drum and bass and jungle night, was announced as a monthly event from January 2023. Artists to have played include The Adolescents, SMOKE BLOW, The Gaslight Anthem and The Casualties. The programme also includes around 20 concerts a year, spanning blues, jazz and popular music. Acts at the former venue included A Place to Bury Strangers, Deez Nuts and Kai & Funky of Ton Steine Scherben.
