Schick

Schick is a lounge on Kaiserstraße in central Mainz, Rhineland-Palatinate, with capacity for about 200. It began as Schick & Schön – Kulturlounge at Mainz’s Südbahnhof in March 2002, founded by Gerrit Schick and Norbert Schön. The former station hall had a bar, two rooms with DJ booths and a stage, and hosted concerts, readings and parties. After that venue closed in 2006, Schick & Schön reopened in 2007 in the former Coupé 70 on Kaiserstraße. Schick and Schön ended their business partnership in 2010, and the venue took the name Schick, with Gerrit Schick as sole owner.

Schick hosts DJ events and live music, with programming spanning techno, house, drum and bass, swing, Italo disco and indie. Its Monday concert series began in 2017. Recurring nights include Schick That Swing and SINGLE.KLUB, a dance night limited to 7-inch vinyl; by 2025, SINGLE.KLUB had run for twelve years. Dom Waits has promoted events there, while artists on the bill have included Tigger, Minzkönig, QT-XTC and Lucid Breaks.
