Southbank Warehouse

Southbank Warehouse occupies an industrial site at 90 Effingham Road, Sheffield, S4 7YS, in Attercliffe on the south bank of the River Don. The venue is part of Canalside Studios, whose 9,000 square feet accommodate creative studios, meeting rooms and offices. The former Swift Levick Steel works on the site dates to 1854. Daniel Hunie, Dan Metcalfe and Dan J Wootton founded the venue, which began operating on September 22, 2017, with a Freshers Week party billed as its first event.

The event space has a courtyard and three rooms. Room 1 includes a mezzanine balcony, Room 2 is a narrow space with a separate entrance, and Room 3 has a side area used as a DJ booth. The courtyard has capacity for 500 people and has hosted bands, DJ sets, weddings, craft fairs and wrestling. At the first party, Void Acoustics Air Motion sound was used in the main warehouse, alongside a PPG bass system in Room 2.

Early club events covered house, disco and techno, with Pretty Pretty Good and Hunie among the promoters. Other event organisers have included Joe Jones, TAKIN’LIBERTIES, G Townend and It Hertz. Early bills featured Octave One, Peggy Gou, Francois K and Mood II Swing. JOESELECTA and Chris Jackson have also played at the venue.
