Starr Bar

Located at 214 Starr Street in Bushwick, Brooklyn, Starr Bar is a nightlife venue in New York City. Ana Nogueira and McNair Scott co-founded it in 2015, and it opened the following year as a sister venue to Mayday Community Space. Its first fundraiser took place in 2016 to support the Standing Rock encampment.

The 2,100-square-foot venue has a dance floor, an 8-by-14-foot stage and a sound system, with capacity for about 150 people. It also has a full kitchen, projector and multiple seating areas, while artworks by movement artists and campaigns appear on its walls. Starr Bar hosts DJ parties, live music, art shows, open mics, film screenings and political events, with New York Junglist, ATG and M9ndCh@mber among the promoters. Artists who have played there include Raw Q, Shinobi and Mrfaust999. Part of its proceeds supports nearby Mayday Space, a community center that provides space for organizing.
