Supermarket

Supermarket is located at Geroldstrasse 17 in Zürich’s Kreis 5 district. It began operating in 1998, in a former garage in Zürich-West, when the neighbourhood was industrial. Proprietor Sandro Bohnenblust built relationships with DJs and club artists from abroad. After he installed a KV2 system, Supermarket became the first club in Switzerland to use that equipment.

Minimal techno anchors the music policy, which ranges from classic house to hard techno. The club has hosted artists including Ricardo Villalobos, Zip, Sonja Moonear and Break. Local and international promoters have staged events there, with Divercity Bass among them; labels and brands presenting events include Perlon, Sunrise, Yoyaku and Giegling.

The dance floor is equipped with four KV2 SL412 mid-high speakers, six VHD2.18J subwoofers and two ESR212 downfills. At the DJ booth, EX15 speakers and ES1.8 subwoofers form part of the system, designed and specified by Plusmusic AG Switzerland. Acoustic treatment in the club space reduces vibrations and sound reflections, and the venue uses a Varia Instruments production mixer.
