The Painted Lady · Toronto, Canada
21:00 – 02:30
The Painted Lady is an independently owned live-music venue at 218 Ossington Avenue in Toronto. Founded in 2008 by Nicky Potter and Sam, it was first planned for New Orleans; after Hurricane Katrina, the founders established it in Toronto instead. Sam Potter later developed a street-festival idea into OssFest.
The main stage sits at the end of a narrow hallway, with a patio area added during the pandemic. Capacity is 111, and the room has Adamson monitors and a Midas 32-channel live-recording rig. Programming spans live music, electronic music, rock ’n’ roll and hip-hop, alongside burlesque, poetry, theatre and live art. Open Mic Mondays began in 2008 and runs weekly; KINETIC is a weekly dance party with local and guest DJs, while The Future Underground has also run events there.
Artists to have played include Marcus Visionary, Jess Done, AHI and Carole Pope. The venue also hosts Friday and Saturday dance parties and photographic exhibitions, as well as food collaborations.
