The Arch was a club in Brighton, at 187–193 Kings Rd, within the city’s Victorian seafront arches. The site had housed several earlier venues, among them The Zap, Digital, Coliseum and Bermuda Triangle. The Zap opened there in 1982; Tonka began its parties at the venue in 1985, while Sasha and John Digweed started their Northern Exposure nights there in the early 1990s.
Rebuilt and rebranded, The Arch opened on 7 March 2015. Its main room had a capacity of about 600 and a custom-built, 12-kilowatt Funktion-One system, refurbished in 2015 with an investment from owner Sammy Verghese. An attached 115-capacity space, The Hub, was used for after-parties and events involving local DJs. The club hosted both club nights and live concerts, including performances during The Great Escape from 2016 to 2019.
A refurbishment completed in 2021 added two rooms, The Box and The Hangar, each with a Funktion-One system. The Arch reopened in June that year; its main room’s sound system included twelve 21-inch bass speakers. Promoters running events there included SuperCharged Events and The Arch Brighton. Artists who played the venue included Pendulum, SHY FX, Pan-Pot and Fatboy Slim. The club later closed, and Quarters took over the former venue site.
