The Bakery is a DIY music and arts venue on Marvin Street in Kensington, Liverpool. It began hosting events in 2007, then operated for dance-music parties under temporary licences from 2012 to 2020. After an extended closure, a local group of artists and promoters reopened it in October 2024 as a licensed venue. The building had been bought at auction by an owner who enabled community use on the condition that its garden was protected.
The venue has a club room and a bar room, with capacity for about 300. Its programme spans underground electronic music, including techno and electro, alongside live music and arts events. Events have run under the 100th Monkey name, including a bill covering drum & bass, rave and rap. The Bakery has also provided early opportunities for Liverpool DJs and promoters; its influence is linked to the opening of Kitchen Street. Artists who have played there include Charlie Power, Dalema and Smrka. In 2025, the Poly One Audio soundsystem was upgraded and newly rigged.
