The Bellwether

The Bellwether is a multi-room music venue at 333 S Boylston Street in Los Angeles. Michael Swier of Teragram Presents founded it with Another Planet Entertainment, and it opened on July 11, 2023. The site had previously housed Los Angeles clubs including Prince’s Glam Slam and Vertigo, which operated in the 1980s; Tatou was another earlier occupant. Renovation work altered the main room, including changes to its ceiling, roof and stage wall. The building had once been owned by Prince, and renovation also involved removing four columns from the main room.

The ballroom has a wooden dance floor, a 270-degree balcony, custom lighting and a d&b sound system, with capacity of about 1,500. Other spaces include an open-air patio, the Looking Glass Lounge, Camille’s event space and a restaurant lounge with a bar. The venue aimed to book established performers alongside emerging acts from Swier’s other Los Angeles venues. Its sold-out opening show was by Phantogram.
