The Bread Shed is a live music venue, club and comedy room at 126 Grosvenor Street in Manchester, with its entrance on Sidney Street. The building was formerly associated with Duncan & Foster bakery, a history reflected in the venue’s name. After operating as Pub/Zoo, it was renovated by Stonegate Pub Company and reopened as The Bread Shed in August 2017. XS Malarkey comedy night had moved into Pub/Zoo in January 2014.
Capacity is about 400, with side seating and full accessibility. The programme spans punk, drum and bass, jazz and dance music, with live performances, DJ sets and club nights. Jam Sessions MCR, North Base, BrainiacRecords and Fishingforbill have promoted events there. Artists who have played include North Base, Deefa, Mark XTC and The Prototypes. Manchester Punk Festival used the venue for afterparties and events in 2018.
