The Brightside is a live-music venue on Warner Street in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, occupying a converted church building. The site began as a Sunday school in 1906 and later housed a dance and R&B club. Destroy All Lines and Brisbane’s The Fans Group opened the venue there on 1 May 2014, with a refurbished band room, a new sound rig, a beer garden and weekend DJ sets.
Its spaces include an indoor, standing-room venue with a stage, an open-air beer garden and car-park space used for larger events. The indoor room holds 380, while the venue’s overall capacity is about 500; the outdoor stage has a fixed L-Acoustics sound system. The programme has ranged across punk, metal, alternative rock and indie, with events from Massive.BNE and Dark Machine Records. Past performers include ShockOne, Captain Bass, Diagnostix and Tsuki.
