The Castle is a pub and music venue at 44 Commercial Road in Whitechapel, London. A pub has occupied the site since 1792, when it was known as the Dover Castle; boxing manager and promoter Frank Maloney later owned it. The venue has a basement club room and an upper-floor space for live music, comedy, plays and exhibitions.
The basement club has capacity for 100 people, seating for 40 and a dedicated bar. Its DJ equipment includes two Pioneer DJ CDJ-3000s, two Technics 1210 turntables, an Allen & Heath Xone 92 and a Pioneer DJM-750MK2. Five full-range speakers, two subwoofers and a booth monitor make up the room’s sound system. Upstairs, the live music room holds 70 people, with seating for 50, and has two EV300 speakers and two bass bins. The music policy covers techno, house, drum and bass, dubstep and dubwise music.
Ben Bromley and Soul Over System have promoted events at the venue, as have Deeper DNB and RUFF RAT. Among the artists to appear there are Ben UFO, Doc Scott, D Bridge and Equinox.
