The Flying Duck

The Flying Duck began operating in 2007 as a nightclub and occasional live-performance venue below street level at 142 Renfield Street in Glasgow. It occupied part of a tenement close to the Herald building, in premises formerly used by The Apollo. Its rooms were styled after a domestic interior, including a hallway and a kitchen set aside as a quieter place to talk. It closed in May 2026.

Its programme featured experimental electronic performers and left-field club events, alongside radio broadcasts, listening sessions, pub quizzes and live shows. Music leaned toward eclectic records and danceable selections rather than standard club-DJ sets; named nights included The Buzzard and All Tore Up. Erosion and FDPresents promoted events there, with Tim Reaper, dBridge, FAUZIA and DJ Flight among the performers. The underground Apollo Bar beside the venue hosted DJs late at night. The booth ran on Pioneer CDJ-2000NXS and XDJ-700 players, a Pioneer DJM900 mixer and Technics 1210 MKII turntables.
