The Fortitude Music Hall

Located at 312-318 Brunswick Street in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, The Fortitude Music Hall began operating on 26 July 2019. Its first-day programme celebrated music from Queensland. Scott Hutchinson’s purchase of a commercial property in Brunswick Street Mall prompted the project, developed with John Collins and Paul Piticco; Secret Sounds and Live Nation were also involved. The design references Art Deco theatres, including Brisbane’s Cloudland and Festival Hall, alongside the Fillmore in Philadelphia.

The venue was planned to address the loss of Festival Hall, which shut in 2003. Its standing configuration accommodates 3,000 people, while theatre seating provides space for about 1,100 to 1,200. Facilities include a multi-level mezzanine, backstage areas and L-Acoustics K2 speakers with L-Acoustics monitoring. Niche Productions and The Operatives have organised events there. Performers have included Andy C and Bou (UK), as well as Dimension and Hybrid Minds. In 2025, The Fortitude Music Hall received the Metro Venue of the Year award at the Queensland Music Awards.
