The Gutter is at 200 N 14th St in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where its bar, bowling alley and performance space began operating in 2007. Its opening brought Brooklyn its first bowling alley in 40 years. The original venue has eight vintage lanes, transported from the Midwest, alongside space for music and other events. In 2011, The Back Room was added for concerts, film screenings and special occasions; it holds about 100 people.
Events at The Gutter have been run by promoters including Adrian Nienaber and Brooklyn Loves UKG. Artists who have played there include Lord of Ciphers, Lovelydaze, ceviché and KC (NYC). In 2017, owners Todd Powers and Paul Kermizian opened another Gutter location in Long Island City, on the opposite side of the Pulaski Bridge from Brooklyn.
