The Mothership is a live music and dance venue at 7 Shortland Street in Auckland CBD, Auckland. It opened in July 2022, founded by friends Andy and Patrick in a basement of a heritage building that had previously housed Code and Impala. Patrick is one half of New Zealand drum-and-bass duo State of Mind; Andy had established Ink, Coherent and The Yot Club in Raglan.
The basement holds about 350 people, with a dance floor ringed by seating. Andy oversees bookings and venue development, while Patrick is responsible for sound and production. Its programme has covered house, techno, drum and bass and garage, alongside live touring acts, club nights and creative events. Artists who have played there include Doc Scott, Aphrodite, Grooverider and Netsky. Other acts hosted by the venue include Basement Jaxx, DJ Sneak and Cosmic Psychos.
