The Native

The Native is a bar on N Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square, Chicago. Jared Savocchi opened it in November 2016 at 2417 N. Milwaukee Avenue, in the space formerly occupied by Bonny’s, which had closed in 2012. The venue began with a neighbourhood-bar focus, while its predecessor had hosted late-night dance parties. Sam Edgin joined in 2017 to oversee event programming, including DJ nights and dance parties across different genres.

The bar has 1970s decor, leather booths and a maple bar, as well as shuffle bowling and a television. Its patio has room for 50 people. The drinks include rotating draft beers and a short cocktail menu; free popcorn is also served. Its programme spans DJ nights, dance parties, trivia, B-movie bingo and craft events. Promoter planet home has run events there, and artists who have played include Soulphonetics and guesst. Brian Tepps and Michael Mercurio became the venue’s first official managers in 2023.
