The Old Red Bus Station began operating in Leeds in 2015 as a temporary venue and vegan café, established by Immi Cardy and Rikines Andrin. It occupied a former bus depot at 104 Vicar Lane, near the city centre, with three dancefloors and room for about 400 people. Early programming included weekly jungle and drum & bass nights, before broadening to other forms of underground electronic music. Dance More, License To Jungle, Central Beatz Leeds and Drums Up North promoted events there.
A fully vegan eatery operated on the building’s upper corner and was Leeds’ first of its kind. The venue also presented exhibitions by local artists. Om Unit, Sully, Fracture and Tim Reaper were among its performers. In January 2025, it announced that it would close permanently, citing rising costs, landlord problems and the absence of a long-term lease. Its final events took place on January 17 and 18.
