The Regency Ballroom is a live music venue at 1300 Van Ness Avenue in Lower Nob Hill, San Francisco, on the corner of Sutter Street. Its building was constructed in 1909 as a Scottish Rite temple and later served as a Masonic lodge, movie theatre, banquet hall and dance studio. San Francisco developer Scott Robertson and a group of investors bought the Regency Center in December 1997.
Goldenvoice has operated the ballroom since 2008, with Goldenvoice Bay Area among the promoters running events there. The Regency Center also contains Social Hall and The Lodge. The ballroom holds up to 1,400 people, with 35-foot ceilings, a built-in stage and a horseshoe-shaped balcony. Its blonde hardwood floor sits beneath 22 turn-of-the-century teardrop chandeliers.
Goldenvoice upgraded the room’s sound system in 2025, installing L-Acoustics L Series loudspeakers, including L2 and L2D arrays, alongside DiGiCo Quantum consoles. The system also includes A10 front-fill speakers, eight KS28 subwoofers and a P1 processor. The installation was the first permanent use of L Series loudspeakers on the West Coast. Blind Guardian played the first show on the new system, which was later used for a performance by Chase & Status. Goldie has also played the ballroom, and the annual Edwardian Ball takes place there.
