The Social opened in central London in the summer of 1999, occupying two floors near Oxford Circus. It developed from Heavenly Sunday Social, club nights staged at different venues between 1994 and 1999, and was founded by Jeff Barrett, Robin Turner, Martin Kelly and Nick Dewey in partnership with the Breakfast Group. David Adjaye and Will Russell designed the original interior.
The venue has hosted club nights and live music across indie, electronic and related styles for years after opening, remaining a Heavenly-linked London venue.
