The Social Southampton

The Social Southampton is a bar and events venue at 21 Lower Bannister Street in Southampton. In 2015, events used both floors, including an upstairs space that had been refurbished. The venue has a ground-floor bar and two private spaces above it: the first-floor Absolut Lounge and the larger Loft. The Lounge accommodates up to 80 standing or 30 seated; the Loft has room for up to 280 standing or 100 seated.

The Loft has a stage, separate entrance, toilets, bar, projector and screen, while both upstairs spaces have their own sound systems. The main venue has a Funktion-One system and capacity of about 300. Events have ranged from dub sound-system nights, featuring Countryman Sound System and Headsessions Sound System, to parties run by Martin Leggett, Sounds Crazy and Surreal Madrid. A 2016 album launch for Featurecast’s Shout It Out featured Krafty Kuts; artists who have played include Saffron, Bluck, SOPHIXJ and Jorge.
