The Underground

The Underground operated below the Galleries shopping centre in Broadmead, Bristol, in a converted loading dock. Promoters used the space for raves and club events from 2021, before it formally opened under its current name in 2024. Nia Archives launched the named venue with a jungle night featuring Scotland Yard Soundsystem and its Goliath stage. The room had concrete walls and an industrial car-park character, with capacity for around 2,500; an event in 2021 used two DJ stages and a Funktion-One sound system.

Its 2025 programme spanned techno, house, grime and jungle, with events from groups including The Blast, D&B All Stars and Teletech. Artists performing there included Sherelle, Clipz, 4am Kru, Blawan and Amelie Lens. In 2025 its sound system used Danley J3 and SH69HT loudspeakers with BC415 and TH118XL subwoofers. The venue announced its closure at the end of 2025 after discussions with the building’s owners.
