The Villa · Oslo, Norway
23:00 – 03:00

The Villa opened in February 2007 in the basement of a former butcher’s shop beneath Hell’s Kitchen, at Møllergata 23–25 in central Oslo, Norway. The club closed in autumn 2010 and reopened the following year. Its two spaces were a main floor and the separate Sweat Room, and the venue held about 250 people.
A Funktion One sound system was installed for the opening, with acoustics designed around the speakers. The main floor had a ceiling installation of box lights, while beams lit the Sweat Room. The Villa hosted DJ sets, live electronic performances and alternative rock concerts. Tore “Jazztobakk” Gjedrem handled concert bookings.
The music policy covered electronic dance and experimental styles, including techno, house, electro, dubstep, noise and Oslo disco, with occasional drum and bass. Friday and Saturday programmes brought Norwegian and international electronic artists together with rock and experimental acts. The club also gave emerging local DJs opportunities to develop. The Villa and Flux Collective both promoted events there; artists who played included Skatebård, Leftfield and Skream. DJ Mag ranked The Villa 54th in its world-club survey in 2009.
