The White Hotel

The White Hotel stands on Dickinson Street in Salford, among former industrial buildings and away from Manchester’s centre. It began operating in 2015 in a garage formerly used for vehicle repairs. Austin Collings and Ben Ward founded the venue, with Collings directing its artistic programme and Ward serving as caretaker alongside a group of friends and collaborators.

Club events shared the programme with experimental music, arts projects and performance. The venue could hold about 300 people and presented bookings such as Manchester Collective and DJ Stingray, whose 2015 appearance drew a crowd of that size. Other performers included Damo Suzuki, William Basinski, Objekt and Space Afrika. A 2018 performance revisited Princess Diana’s funeral through a procession accompanied by a mariachi band. Event promoters included JUDGE PARTY, Rupture and Neighbourhood.
