Tipogrāfijas Radošais Kvartāls stands near Rožu Square in Liepāja, in a former printing house whose main structure was built in 1890. Printing-house founder Gotlībs Meijers constructed the building, where Latvia’s first currency was printed. Lithography was among the site’s printing processes; its last machines were shut down around six or seven years before August 2024. Underground concerts took place there before redevelopment. In 2024, the Ivuškāns family, Jānis, Sniedze and Pēteris, took over the long-vacant property and developed it as a creative venue.
The complex covers about 4,500 square metres and includes extensions and a courtyard. The courtyard opened to visitors on August 1, 2024, and the first indoor event hall began operating that October, hosting concerts and other cultural events. Renovation also opened the third-floor Zaļā zāle as an event space. A stairwell in the building dates from 1890, and the venue’s capacity is about 200 people.
The venue hosts concerts, cultural programming and electronic music events, with drum and bass and techno among the genres heard there. Promoters who have held events at the site include Raventa and slattboys. Performers have included Shipsea, Tautumeitas and devkey.
