Tokyo Sing Song

Tokyo Sing Song is a club below the Marlborough Hotel on King Street in Newtown, Sydney, which opened in 2014 and holds about 150 people. Solotel bought the three-storey hotel in 2017 and then enlarged the club’s dance floor and added a stage and lighting. In late 2018 DJW Projects replaced its old PA with a new XY Series sound system.

Promoters, DJs, record labels and party crews shape the programme, which ranges across house, techno, disco, soul, hip-hop, jazz and reggae. Hardwire has organised events there, and performers have included Wubble, Andrew Wowk, Kimi Hendrix and Postponez. In 2019 the club received a City of Sydney grant for performances aimed at gender- and culturally diverse audiences, and its events have included women’s DJ workshops, performances by the Comfy Grrrl collective and Athletica, a charity club night organised by the Sydney DJ Isa.
