Transformator

Transformator is a club on Tęczowa Street in Wrocław, Poland. It grew from a group of friends organising long rave events and converting a warehouse for DJ sets and other performances. Holos, one of its first events, brought Czech techno artists to the club, with Wrocław’s Zajezdnia collective on the second stage. That stage was called OSTRO, a name linked both to its harder music and to the remains of a former “GASTRO” sign.

The warehouse-style interior was adapted acoustically for performances. The club has a main dance floor and a second stage, with capacity for about 500 and a sound system and lighting setup. Its programme has covered electronic music including techno, house, drum and bass and rave. Secret Rave concealed performers’ identities until guests arrived, while Thursday Falstart events featured local emerging artists and club residents. DWX Projekt has also run events there.

By 2022, programming had widened beyond the club’s earlier emphasis on harder techno, while long rave events and Secret Rave continued. Tresor residents appeared regularly by that year, following the Berlin club’s showcase at Transformator in 2019. Artists who have played at the venue include Jerzyk, DLR, Kasra and Rethe. Other bookings have included DJ Hell, Ellen Allien and Miss Kittin.
