Transit

Transit is a multipurpose cultural venue at Reichenhainer Straße 1 in Chemnitz, Germany. It opened on 10 March 2018 in the former Südbahnhof, now known as the Kulturbahnhof, using the station’s old waiting rooms. Before Transit opened, Timo Stocker ran the Chemnitz club Sanitätsstelle, which closed in April 2017. Transit is operated by Kulturbahnhof Chemnitz gGmbH, with Stocker as managing director.

The club spreads across two and a half floors, with wood, concrete and clinker among the building materials, and has capacity for about 300. Its programme covers electronic music, live concerts, metal and rap, alongside lectures, social events and parties. Promoters Hardbeat Redemption and SubØhm have run events there. Artists who have played at Transit include Alicea, Laviena, Mori and MORSURE. A summer break preceded a 2023 reopening with renovated floors and an outdoor area. The recurring bass-music series Back To The Roots held its 12th edition at Transit in July 2025.
