TSB Arena stands at 4 Queens Wharf on Wellington’s waterfront and is the city’s largest indoor venue. It began operating in 1995 under the name Queens Wharf Events Centre, adopting its present name in 2006. The building occupies a totara wharf dating to the 1860s, where the Queen’s Bond warehouse, constructed in 1862, once stood; redevelopment and expansion took place in 2005.
Its 2,186 square metres of floor space can be arranged with fixed mezzanine seats, retractable tiers or loose seating on the floor, with black drapes available for different configurations. Capacity reaches 6,000 standing or 3,568 seated, and large foyers serve events including conferences, exhibitions, international concerts and indoor sports. A semi-permanent sound system is suspended near the arena’s centre. Basketball games, roller derby and conventions are also held there; the venue hosts the annual World of Wearable Arts Show and is home to the Wellington Saints and Te Wānanga o Raukawa Pulse. Concert performers have included Dimension, K Motionz, A.M.C and Koven.
