Watsons EQ

Watsons EQ is a live-music venue at The Entertainment Quarter, 1 Bent Street, Moore Park, Sydney. It opened in 2021 after renovations to the former PJ Gallagher’s pub, which had operated at the site from 1999 until its closure in 2020. The two-storey building was taken on by Michael Watson of Wats On Events and Danny Stapleton under a ten-year leasehold agreement with the Entertainment Quarter’s management.

Indoor and outdoor spaces include an upper-level function room, two decks, a courtyard bar and a beer garden beneath Moreton Bay fig trees. The courtyard has a four-metre screen, and the venue’s capacity is about 1,000. Watsons EQ hosts live music in the Courtyard on Fridays and Saturdays, with local artists among those performing there. The indoor bar has a tallowwood counter topped with Rivera stone and serves 32 beers on tap.

Events at the venue have included drum and bass, with promoters such as iRock Entertainment, Sounds Like and EFESIAN. Artists who have played include Alcemist, Clifford, Shuga and Spuk. S.A.S.H began its Sunday daytime events at Watsons EQ on 15 October 2023; its Sunday daytime and nighttime format shifted to Carousel in July 2024. On 8 June 2024, a Hospitality event with Hospital Records featured Camo & Krooked and Whiney.
