WOMB

WOMB began operating in central Shibuya in April 2000, opening with a party led by Junior Vasquez. Located at 2-16 Maruyamacho, the Tokyo venue accommodates 1,000 people across four floors. Its main space rises as an open atrium from the second to fourth levels, with a third-floor Premium Lounge terrace overlooking it. The main floor combines a digital sound system sourced from New York with strobe lights and lasers.

Techno, drum and bass, and electro feature in its programme, which pairs international guests with artists from Japan. The 06S drum and bass party started at WOMB in its opening year and became the club’s longest-running resident event. Performers have included Sven Väth and Richie Hawtin, and YELLOW and You Liang have run events at the venue. Since 2008, WOMB has hosted the annual indoor festival WOMB ADVENTURE, whose editions draw nearly 10,000 people. The club shut for renovations from January 31 to February 25, 2016, then reopened with parties on February 26 and 27. That year, a d&b sound system was installed in connection with 06S.
