XLR

XLR is a club at 455 Wilmslow Road in Withington, Manchester, holding about 200 people. It began as a small basement club and grew into a dance-music venue with a Funktion-One sound system.

In 2025 owner Chris Hindle made it the UK’s first club licensed to let guests bring their own alcohol; the new format launched on 24 September 2025 with a Dubstate night. Ivy Collective now steers its Wednesdays, which earlier hosted Warped Wednesdays, a weekly UK garage night from 2022 until June 2025.

Its music ranges across techno, electro, UK garage and drum and bass, with nights from collectives such as Dropjaw Audio, Hit and Run, Rare Groove, Disco Puss, Not Bad For A Girl and Insidious Audio. Kniiight, Maggy B, Prosek, Subbuteo and Xodiak are among the artists who have played there.
