Zuzu

Zuzu is at 510 Massachusetts Ave in Central Square, Cambridge. The Sater family opened the room in 2001 in a former Indian restaurant space as part of the Middle East complex, and its name comes from a childhood nickname of one of the Sater brothers. The complex began at 4 Brookline Street in 1968, and the family bought the restaurant and two neighbouring spaces in 1974. Zuzu holds about 75 people.

Operating as a bar and restaurant, Zuzu hosts live music and DJs several nights a week, with acoustic performers and smaller acts among its bookings. A 2002 redesign gave the room a nightclub look and brought in regular DJ nights. It sits alongside the Middle East venues and Sonia within the complex. Promoters at Zuzu have included The Vibe Syndicate, elements and The OOZE, and DJ Deshoda and Dev/Null are among the artists who have played there.
