Over the past few years, we’ve sadly lost so many incredible artists, and it’s been moving to witness the outpouring of love and respect for them once they’re gone. It’s made me reflect, and after speaking with a few fellow artists, I realised we should be showing more love and appreciation while they’re still here. We shouldn’t shy away from expressing how much they mean to us—both as people and as artists. We need to give them their flowers.
So, this is my attempt to celebrate and honour those who have deeply impacted me personally, as well as the music industry as a whole. I want to share some personal stories about the artists I’m talking about and the journey we’ve had together—both personally and professionally. But more than that, I’d love to hear your stories too. I want to know how these artists have touched your life and what they mean to you.
I truly believe this is something all artists, at every level, should do—to publicly honour and show love for their peers. It’s important to remind each other of how much we matter, not just to the scene, but to each other. Let’s celebrate the people who’ve shaped us while we still have the chance.
