Aural Imbalance is the solo project of British electronic musician Simon Huxtable, whose work spans atmospheric drum and bass, progressive house and abstract dub. Huxtable began producing music with Dave Parkinson in 1997 and started releasing music as Aural Imbalance in the late 1990s. His first solo EP, Secret Sense, came out in 1998 on Cadence Recordings. He has worked from a home studio in Torquay, England, and releases under the project have appeared on Spatial, Auxiliary and Advection Music.
In 2000, Cadence Recordings released Different Perspective, bringing together collaborations and original Aural Imbalance tracks. Huxtable’s first full-length album under the name, Legacy, followed in 2012. He formed Inner-Vation with Parkinson and Deep Space Organisms with Andy Pitman, and also released music with Parkinson as TQ-One. Huxtable is a co-owner of Deep Space Recordings. His work has included progressive breaks, trance and ambient music, as well as drum and bass under the aliases Curvature, Spatial and Waveforms. Huxtable also released the album Intuition on Within Records.
Huxtable formed Digital Dub Corporation with Jahkbass and Tim Black in 2004, and began a musical partnership with Donald Wilborn of Embarcadero Records in 2006. Aural Imbalance’s albums include Solar System (2017) and Transparent Blue (2020). In 2023, Huxtable collaborated with producer ASC on Interstellar Transmissions; the pair released the album Duality on Spatial in 2024. In 2020, Huxtable also released the album Instant Migration on Embarcadero Records.
In 2025, Huxtable released the Aural Imbalance album Edge of Space.
