Captain Bass

Captain Bass is the stage name of Belgian producer and DJ Joran Alaerts, from Herne. He began producing drum and bass at 18, after discovering jump-up through his younger brother and attending raves. Jump-up was his initial focus, and his work also spans dancefloor drum and bass and dubstep.

His 2016 single Trouble, made with Woodz and Yatuza, came out on Dubstomp 2 Bass Records. His releases have also appeared on Crucast, Bassrush Records, High Tea Music and Invicta Audio. Among his collaborations, Jump Up paired him with Primate and MC Skywalker, while Don’t Let Me Go brought him together with Amplify and was released on Crucast. He has also worked with Hedex, Turno and Georgie Riot. He has described working with Hedex as a dream come true. Another collaboration with Primate is Move. His singles also include Statement and Remember Me.

His music has received support from BBC Radio 1 and Kiss FM, and he has performed at Pukkelpop, Tomorrowland, Rampage and DnB Allstars Festival. He has also appeared at Let It Roll. In a 2025 interview, he discussed experimenting with combining hard techno and drum and bass. In 2026, he released Freefall with Toxinate on Invicta Audio and Take Over VIP with Primate on Primate Music. Other releases that year included Gang on absrd wrld and On Fire with AC13 on Alpha Circuit.

Captain Bass also released Feel So Good on Captain Bass Music in 2026. His performances that year included appearances at MS RheinMagie and The Clock Factory.
