Formed in Guildford, Surrey, in 1999, Cause 4 Concern brought together producers Mark Clements, also known as CZA, and Edward Holmes, known as Optiv. The early line-up also included Stuart Perkins. The drum and bass act established Cause4Concern Recordings in its founding year, using the label for its own music and releases by other artists in the genre. The group also recorded as nCODE and Troubled Mindz. Its 1999 single “Phatcap / Euthanasia” appeared on C4C Recordings.
Cause 4 Concern’s track “Spasm” featured on the MSX FM radio station in Grand Theft Auto III. The group released the album Pandemic in 2009, followed by the 2011 single “Makes Me Wonder / Chameleon” on Shadybrain and the 2013 single “Peepshow / Headroom (Remix)” on Virus Recordings. In 2014, the single “Icarus Audio 011” paired Cause 4 Concern with BLE3K and State of Mind. After Holmes died in January 2020, Clements carried on the project solo. In 2024, Cause 4 Concern released the single “Relentless / Luca (Teebee Remix)” on C4C Limited; a 2026 single, “Relentless (Chook Remix)”, was released on C4C Recordings with Chook.
