Born in London and raised on the outskirts of Brighton, Chris Garvey began DJing at 16. Before starting Circadian, the Brighton-based producer and DJ was one half of The Prototypes, the drum-and-bass duo he formed with Nick White in 2010. The pair released two studio albums and played Glastonbury, Tomorrowland and EDC Las Vegas. In 2023, Garvey launched Circadian as a solo project, opening with the track Body Work on Elevate Records. He described the project as a new chapter, offering room to explore different musical directions while staying rooted in drum-and-bass culture. Circadian’s first Resident Advisor event took place in 2023.
Garvey said the move felt scary, and hoped Body Work would find its way into DJs’ sets. Circadian has also released music through Monstercat and Sleepless Music. The single The Outlines paired Garvey with Koven, while You Want Me brought him together with Dirtyphonics. The track You Want Me (VIP) followed in 2024, also on Monstercat. Circadian’s collaborations include Sota, and Garvey has remixed music by Basement Jaxx and Friction.
In 2024, Circadian released the single Energy In Motion. The following year brought LOUDER, a single with Mozey released on Rinse / KOOL, and Flamethrower, a single with Cody Frost on UKF. Garvey also released the single Hold That Sucker Down through Armada Music in 2025. In 2026, Circadian released the single Energy In Motion (A.M.C Remix) with A.M.C on Sleepless Music Ltd. Garvey also played Depot Mayfield on 9 October 2026.
