Scottish-born Colin Hay became known as Men at Work’s frontman and principal songwriter, writing with bandmate Ron Strykert. His solo albums include Looking for Jack (1987) and Peaks & Valleys (1992), followed by Going Somewhere (2001), released on Compass Records. The 2007 album Are You Lookin’ at Me? came out on Compass Records and Lazy Eye Records; American Sunshine, released in 2009, was produced by Hay and issued on both labels. Hay has also discussed Men at Work’s early days and his songwriting partnership with Strykert in an interview.
Appearances on Scrubs brought new listeners to Hay’s solo music. He toured with Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band and collaborated with singer-songwriter Cecilia Noël, his wife. Later solo albums include Fierce Mercy (2017) and Now and the Evermore (2022), released on Sony Music Entertainment. Hay’s 2023 singles included “Into My Life” and “Spanish Goodbye”, the latter made with Noël and released on Wildclam Records. In 2022, he was featured on Luude and Majestic’s “Down Under (feat. Colin Hay) (Majestic Remix),” released on Sweat It Out. He also released “Hello World” with Kodi Lee on Kodi Lee Music in 2023. In 2025, Hay appeared with Kickbait and LIZOT on “Down Under 2025,” released on Zeitgeist.
