Brighton was where Piper Hewitt-Dudding found her way into drum and bass after moving there for university. Performing as Dilemma, she grew up near Download Festival listening to Rage Against the Machine, Led Zeppelin and Slipknot, then became involved in Brighton’s local scene. Her music leans towards liquid drum and bass, and she works as both a producer and DJ. Dilemma made her debut in 2016 and went on to release music through Skankandbass, Soulvent, Hospital Records and Flight Pattern.
Among her releases are “Mercy”, made with Ownglow for Hospital Records, and “Gone Too Soon”, featuring vocalist Robert Manos and released by Soulvent. “Transfix” and “Limbo” are also among her notable tracks. Calibre and Random Movement have supported her music. Her 2020 release “Exit Stage Left” came out on Soulvent; after stepping away from music, Dilemma said mental-health struggles, writer’s block and imposter syndrome had contributed to the hiatus.
Dilemma moved from Brighton to Leeds, where she found a supportive local community that helped her return to music. In 2025, she released the single “Don't Let The Light Leave Your Eyes (Dilemma Remix)” with Aphrah on Aphrah. The following year brought the album A River Without Banks on Spearhead, marking her return to drum and bass.
