Droptek is producer Lewis Munns, who moved to Bristol in 2013 and found direction in its drum and bass scene. His early work drew on dubstep, electro-house and glitch-hop; from around 2014, he shifted towards drum and bass, while his music has also spanned electro. In 2012, Droptek released the single Polygon on Monstercat.
Droptek’s 2015 track Colossus and 2016 single Rupture appeared on Monstercat. The 2017 EP Fragments received features on Noisia Radio and BBC Radio 1. Munns also won the judges’ vote in Figure’s “Must Destroy” remix competition and made remixes for Pegboard Nerds and Krewella. His Monstercat work included collaborations with Muzzy on Warhead and Vorso on Smog.
In 2019, Droptek released the single New Style on NCS, his first release with the label. Munns described it as combining his early writing approach with his newer production sound. That year also brought the album Symbiosis, also identified as Symbiosis LP. In 2020, Droptek released the single Observer and the album Symbiosis Remixed Part 2 on Life Is Soup You Are Fork. A 2021 single, Party Every Day (Droptek Remix), came out on Korsakov Music.
