Fox Stevenson

In 2013, Fox Stevenson adopted the name used for his releases after performing as Stan SB. Fox Stevenson is the stage name of English musician Stanley Stevenson-Byrne, a singer-songwriter, DJ and producer from Leeds, West Yorkshire. The change also gave Stevenson room to make music beyond drum and bass, rather than being tied to one genre. His earlier releases included the EP Endless in 2013, followed by All This Time in 2014. Stevenson founded Cloudhead Records and put the latter EP out on the label.

In 2015, Stevenson worked with Curbi on the track “Hoohah”. A year later, he signed with Disciple, where his first EP was No Fox Given. His releases have also appeared on Pilot, Spinnin’, Liquicity and AntiFragile, as well as Monstercat. The album Killjoy came out on AntiFragile Music in 2019. Stevenson has described wanting to move beyond the drum-and-bass expectations associated with his former name, and says that ideas already developing on his computer often provide a starting point for tracks.

Stevenson’s music draws on dance styles as well as pop and rock influences, including pop-punk; his styles include drum and bass, glitch hop, house and dubstep. He has also spoken about drawing inspiration from a wide range of places. His live project brings his songwriting and production into a band setting: Stevenson sings, Dan Sawyer plays drums, and Bruce Charles, also known as Bustre, plays guitar. Stevenson met Ookay at a Space Yacht event in Los Angeles, where they performed back to back, and later collaborated with Ookay on the single “Lighthouse”.

The album Sunk Cost Fallacy followed in 2025. In an interview that year, Stevenson discussed his approach to working in the studio, how he thinks about musical achievements, and the importance of staying present while writing songs. His later releases include the single “Pieces”, made with Yue in 2024, and a 2022 remix of DJ Fresh “Gold Dust”. He released the EP Take You Down / Melange on Liquicity Records, adding another label connection to a run of releases that also includes work for Pilot, Disciple and AntiFragile.
