David Franks, known as Frankee, was introduced to drum and bass by his older brother at 13 and bought his first turntables at 14. In an interview with fabric, he said he had been DJing for about 15 years and producing for roughly six. He described jungle as a major influence on his sound and said he wanted to keep it contemporary. He also said he had been into drum and bass since 1996.
Frankee is associated with RAM Records and its sister label PROGRAM. “Black Heart/Wonderland” was among his releases on RAM, while “Firethorn/Pandorum” was his first release on PROGRAM. He signed exclusively with RAM Records in 2013. His 2013 EP Turning Point includes “Flintstone,” “Saffron,” “Paranormal,” and “Harlequin.” He also collaborated with Basher on music, including “Reminisce.”
Frankee won Best Newcomer Producer at the Drum and Bass Awards in 2014. Other releases include the tracks “Gully” and “Away.”
